This article about Technology Minister Paulwell made for interesting reading the other day. Funny how the article was published in the Women's weekly (Flair) section of the Gleaner. Why? Well, it's whispered in Jamaica's social circles that the Minister used to beat his beautiful young (now former?) wife quite regularly .. including, of all the nights, their wedding night. WoW!

Been busy and away for a bit, but on a much more serious note ... the lawlessness across the island must come to an end. Or we're surely heading the way of Haiti and so many other independent countries that somehow can't seem to manage their internal affairs and government.
Recently the gunmen were trigger happy in Montego Bay. This in turn must have made the policemen even more trigger happy than they already were. If you run a taxi, you shouldn't have to be worried that you might be shot by both gunmen and police.

The Jamaica Observer's cartoon today had me rolling.
This Govt. has made so many wrong turns, followed so much bad advice and is basically reaping what it has sowed. Yuh know tings gone bad when the very same extortionists that used to be thugs on the political paroll have now decided to give the govt. (and opposition) the middle finger and do their own evil deeds. Now the politrikhans have lost total control and as Mutty always laughs and says, "The Center Cannot Hold". Things are falling apart!
Meanwhile, whether its because of the temperature or times just too hard, nuff people seem to be going beserk. Check this story - man goes to chool on Monday to meet with the Principal to discuss the suspension of his son. Man is not happy with the outcome of meeting, so man pulls his licensed firearm and fires three shots in the air in the school's parking lot as he is leaving. It really did happen ... see the full details here.

A few Jamaican web sites were hacked and defaced a couple nights ago. It seems some idlers from Brazil may be the culprits. The report at the link above stated "The Jamaican police's new cyber crime unit is investigating the incident, which the paper hopes will be assisted by the Brazilian service provider from where the message originated." Now I find that to be particularly interesting, given that the island doesn't even have proper cyber laws as yet! Talk about putting the cart before the horse.

Missed Elephant on 106 and Park yesterday evening but the board is saying him neva gwan too bad at all, so big up Ele! Dancehall crossing over big time and while I am happy to see Jamaican music being embraced by the world, I can't help but feel like we should be 'wifing' it up for ourselves .. HUH??? you say ... well, our music helps to make us unique, its an identifier, and when you see a someone somewhere in the States blasting a stone love or some Bounty, its safe to smile and prob say "yeh, fellow Jamaican". Now, every Tom, Dick and Harry from Florida to Melbourne is blasting Sean Paul, Ele and whoever else.
Other interesting news today: Mr. 'Chronic' hit the jackpot it seems. Arbitration panel orders $7b payment to Ezroy Millwood led NTCS
A few years ago I remember Mr. Millwood on the Breakfast Club radio programme constantly talking bout "Jamaica is in a state of Chronic". LOL. Looks like he's finally getting the reward that he has said for years that he deserves and would eventually get. Wonder where in the budget this $7B will come from. As usual the Govt. will prob just invent some tax or duty to cover that hole.

If you don't have a gun, you have to worry about the possibility of running for your life with some merciless gunman in chase. If you have a gun, you have to worry about the possibility of some merciless gunman shooting you without even allowing you to surrender because they simply want to get the gun that you have. Andrew Blackstock was shot and killed for this very reason. He ws licensed to carry a gun, he had it, they wanted it, and that was that.
Anyhow, the 'Gal Debate' continues. Plain and simple, our Prime Minister is an incompetent who constantly puts his foot in his month, messes up, or delegates to individuals who do the same. From his 'I Shall Return' Shell waiver scandal days to the present disaster that is this country's Government, he continues without a clue, but yet we continue to vote him and his cronies into power. Oh well, I guess the Opposition isn't much of an Opposition and that will continue to be the general excuse for a while.
Next up ... big up Mr. Shizzle Head-Nuh-Good Elephant Man who's supposed to be on BET's 106 & Park today. Hopefully dem nuh ask him fi speak much, coz trus mi, more time, mi a Jamaican and mi haffi listen hard fi understand half a wha him a say. Shankle!
